Active girls!
Sacré Cœur girls love the challenge of the sporting field and the thrill of participation and the sporting opportunities are many and varied. From interschool sport through Girls Sport Victoria, to intra-House sport, all students are encouraged to involve themselves actively in the diverse range of activities offered.
Intra-House sporting activities are always fiercely contested events on and off the sporting field. . A healthy rivalry exists between the four houses, Barat, Duchesne, Stuart and Digby, and this always gives rise to a well-natured atmosphere of ‘competitive fun' at all House events. House sport competitions involve swimming, diving, netball, soccer, badminton, volleyball and athletics.
Sacré Cœur is proud to be a foundation member of Girls Sport Victoria (GSV). Since 2001, GSV has provided students from its 24-member independent girls' schools with opportunities to participate in a diverse range of sports. It also is responsible for the structured weekly sport competitions across sports such as tennis, indoor cricket, softball, hockey, netball, badminton, volleyball, basketball, soccer and cricket. GSV also co-ordinates programs in each of the major carnivals involving Swimming and Diving, Cross Country and Athletics.
Through GSV, Sacré Cœur also provides students with the opportunities to take part in Saturday Sports Skills Programs involving areas such as golf, triathlon, surf-league, fencing, dance-sport, beach volleyball, football, rugby league and squash.
The sporting culture at Sacré Cœur has been, and will continue to grow as, an integral part of the Burke Road tradition.
