About the Foundation

Our Sacré Cœur community has long been responsible for ensuring that the excellence and unique experience of a Sacred Heart education is available for our students today, as well as for future generations of young women.

School fees and government grants do not cover the full cost of the education of our students nor the on-going maintenance and development of educational facilities. The need for additional financial support is vital to the future of our School and the Foundation plays a vital role in making this possible.

Established in 2004, the Sacré Cœur Foundation is a public company limited by guarantee and is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the School Board.

While its prime role is fundraising, the Foundation also aspires to be a compassionate and caring organisation. It has a strong belief in the benefits of a Sacred Heart education, both for society and the individual. Through its charter, the Foundation has accepted the responsibility for providing the School with additional capital resources to deliver on its promises to the Sacré Cœur students, parents and their families. We want our students to have the very best opportunities. One avenue for such support is through the award of Florence Buckley Scholarships. The funds from a bequest from Florence Buckley are administered by the Foundation Board.

Fundraising has been and always will be an important part of securing the short-term and long-term goals for our School. Through the Foundation, we aim to nurture a strong belief in philanthropy within our community. By joining with us, you are sharing in our vision and building for the future.

Already, hundreds of our alumnae, current and past parents, staff and supporters have given very generously to the Foundation. For this we say – thank you.

We strongly encourage every member of our community to consider supporting the Foundation through donations to the Building, Bursary and Scholarship Funds or the purchase of a paver for the Cor Unum walk. By lending your support and being involved with the Foundation, you can help our School continue the fine tradition of Sacred Heart education, established internationally for more than two hundred years.

Support Scholarships

Scholarships change lives.

The impact of scholarships cannot be understated – scholarships benefit our entire School community, adding to the richness and diversity of the experience for all.

Each year our community bands together to raise money for our Annual Giving Campaign. In 2023, as part of our 135th Anniversary, our community goal is to raise funds to establish and to provide opportunities for students who would not ordinarily have the means to attend our school.

Sacré Cœur Giving Day is an opportunity for our community, together, to renew our spirit of making a positive difference and to give back to the community.

Support our Bursaries and Scholarships

“Assist the ones least well-off. I assure you, to set up young people in life, if they need help, is a far better work than you think.”
St Madeleine Sophie Barat, RSCJ

Scholarships and bursaries are an integral part of our commitment to rewarding academic excellence and enabling students from all backgrounds to achieve their educational goals.

With your help, we can increase the number of scholarships and bursaries available so our students can achieve their full potential. Additionally your support can help to provide a Sacred Heart education for those that would not otherwise be able to afford one.

We invite you to support our scholarships and bursaries programs by completing and returning the Scholarships Donation form.

Kathleen McCarthy Bursary

In June 2019 the Kathleen McCarthy Bursary was established in the name of a Sacré Cœur leading educator, Deputy Principal, parent, School Board Director and member of our community groups. Kathleen’s husband, Brian, and her family in their wish to keep her memory alive at Sacré Cœur, made a generous donation of $150,000 to establish the bursary. To perpetuate the award, further donations are required and you are invited to make a tax deductible donation. If you would like to donate please download the information on the bursary below.

The Bursary is to be granted to a student entering Year 7 and funds 75% of tuition fees to her family who may not otherwise be able to afford a Sacré Cœur education. it is available for students currently enrolled and those who wish to attend the School.
