The music course at Sacré Cœur aims to develop and improve the musicianship of all students, to provide them with opportunities for creativity and appreciation within a structured framework and to allow them to develop their musical skills to their full potential.
While the classroom music program is skills based incorporating keyboards, ukuleles and classroom percussion it also concentrates on music literacy skills at a level appropriate to each individual. Students are also encouraged to take instrumental lessons and vocal lessons and to participate in the school's choir and instrumental ensemble programmes to enhance their musical experience.
We offer over 15 ensembles including orchestra, string orchestra, concert bands, stage band, flute ensembles, percussion ensemble and chamber groups, as well as the secondary choir and junior and senior vocals.
A mid-year Music Camp is held as an intensive preparation time for the school concert.
Events which offer opportunities to perform include Open Day, School Music Concerts, Assemblies, Chapel Concert, Joigny Musical, Secondary School Musical and Carols Services as well as various masses and performances within the daily life of the school.
The School offers private tuition for a wide range of instruments, including Voice.
