Music
A feast of music options!
The music course at Sacré Cœur aims to develop and improve the musicianship of all students, to provide them with opportunities for creativity and appreciation within a structured framework and to allow them to develop their musical skills to their full potential.
While the classroom music program concentrates on music literacy skills at a level appropriate to each individual, students are also encouraged to take instrumental lessons and vocal lessons and to participate in the school's choir and instrumental ensemble programmes to enhance their musical experience.
Present ensembles include orchestra, string orchestra, concert band, stage band, flute ensembles, clarinet choir, percussion ensemble and chamber groups, as well as the secondary choir and junior vocals.
A mid-year Music Camp is held as an intensive preparation time for the school concert.
Events which offer opportunities to perform include Open Day, School Concerts, Assemblies, Chapel Concert, Joigny Musical, Speech Night and Carols Services as well as various masses and concerts within the daily life of the school.
The School offers private tuition for a wide range of instruments, including Voice and Speech and Drama.
