What sports do you offer?
Sacré Cœur is one of 24 member schools involved in Girls Sport Victoria (GSV). GSV caters for girls from Years 7 to 12 and provides enormous opportunities for interschool competitions in a wide range of sports, including netball, basketball, swimming, diving, cross country and soccer to name a few.
Primary students are involved in district competitions, House sports and a comprehensive physical education program.
Out of School Hours Care
An After School Care program is offered in conjunction with our neighbouring school, Korowa, and is run by Camp Australia. Camp Australia also offers a Holiday program.
Do you offer private music tuition?
Yes. Sacré Cœur has a comprehensive private music tuition. Speech and Drama tuition is also offered.
In addition, all students from Prep to Year 8 have Music as part of the core Curriculum.
When should I enrol my daughter?
Waiting lists exist at some year levels. If you wish to enrol your daughter at Sacré Cœur we recommend completing an Application form as soon as possible. Enrolment interviews are held two years prior to the year of entry.
How many students are at the School?
Sacré Cœur caters for a maximum of 775 girls in the school. This includes approximately 200 girls in the Junior school. There are no plans to exceed these numbers.
What about boys?
Sacré Cœur is a school for girls and the School emphatically believes that girls perform better in a single gender environment. However, we recognise the importance of social and academic interaction with males, from time to time. In response to this we hold a number of academic, social and co-curricular activities with:
What programs do you offer for gifted children?
High standards of learning are set for each student and are supported by a differentiated approach to tasks so that the individual student's needs are the focus point for teaching. Enrichment provides exciting challenges for all students. Specialist subjects from Prep to Year 6 which further develop the students' talents include French, Art, Music, Instrumental programs, Physical Education and Library.
Do you have a special Year 9 program?
Yes we do. Year 9 students participate in the Notre Monde program, an exciting curriculum initiative designed specifically for Sacré Cœur students.
Notre Monde, French for “Our World” encourages our students to explore “their world” through a series of six self-contained five week units which are cross-curricular and inter-disciplinary. They include units such as “Myplace in the World” (Global unit) and “Living within our environment” (Sustainability unit).
The outdoor education program is supported by a camp which includes a river journey. The Year 9 curriculum is comprehensive, challenging and prepares the students for the selection of VCE subjects.
Are you a boarding school?
No, we are day school only.
Do you offer Scholarships?
Scholarships are reviewed annually. Please check the website from time to time for updates.
Do your students need to have laptops?
We are not a laptop school. Years Prep-4 have class sets of iPads. Years 5-10s have been issued with iPads and they take them home every night and the Year 11s and 12s bring their own device.
How much notice do I have to give if my daughter is leaving Sacré Cœur at the end of 2015?
To avoid incurring a penalty of half the next term’s fees, parents are reminded of the requirement to give a full term’s written notice of their daughter leaving Sacré Cœur.
This means, for example, that if parents do not give the required notice and their daughter is leaving from Year 6 at the end of this year, they will be billed for half the fees for Term 1 in Year 7 2016.
The final date to avoid the penalty fee is Monday 5 October.
However, because administrative staff work over the term holidays, it would be appreciated if parents notify the School by the end of Term 3 that your daughter/s will not be continuing at Sacré Cœur in 2016.
Please do not hesitate to contact our Registrar, Julie Muldoon, on 9835 2713 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any queries regarding your daughter’s enrolment.
