At Sacré Cœur we believe that Creative Arts is an integral part of education as it provides opportunities that promote creativity, self-expression, aesthetic awareness and the development of problem-solving skills. Teaching the Creative Arts practice focuses on both the generation of media, art and design ideas and the sequential development of skills and processes. Students create two, three and four dimensional works in a range of forms, including drawing, painting, photography, graphic design, collage, modelling, film, textiles, printmaking and installation. They develop the ability to select, arrange and make choices about expressive ways to communicate ideas, concepts, observations, feelings and experiences. Through the Creative Arts, visual and critical literacy skills will enable students to navigate a global culture and connected world.
Students participate in Co-curricular programs such as the Year 6 Clay for Kids program by the Duldig Studio, Year 11 life-drawing program and the School’s Acquisitive Annual Art Competition. Our students benefit from inclusion in an extensive excursion and incursion program that enables them to work and learn with industry professionals.
